Effective altruism is a project that aims to find the best ways to help others, and put them into practice. It’s both a research field, which aims to identify the world’s most pressing problems and the best solutions to them, and a practical community that aims to use those findings to do good.
At EA Bristol, we try to apply the principles of effective altruism to help interested students have a large positive social impact with their lives, whether that’s by pursuing a high impact career that tackles a pressing global problem, or through donating to effective charities.
How can we find the best ways to improve the world? The Introduction to Effective Altruism (IDEA) fellowship is a free 8-week programme combining reading, small group discussions and personal mentoring, which explores the most pressing challenges of our time and how we can act on them.
Outside of our fellowship sessions, we also run socials like charity discussions, pub hangouts and more! Follow our Facebook and Instagram to keep up to date with when our socials take place.
Utilon Events is a speaker series we run! We invite guests who are working or thinking about effective altruism and have a 30-40 minute fireside chat with them.
You can see the schedule for Utilon Events here.
